Programming an Anytone UV-878 for DMR Repeater (Front Panel)
Overview
This guide walks through manually programming a DMR repeater into the Anytone UV-878 using the radio keypad (no CPS software required).
You will need:
- Repeater Frequency (RX/TX)
- Color Code (CC)
- Time Slot (TS1 or TS2)
- Talkgroup ID
- Your DMR ID

Step 1: Create a Digital Channel
- Press the Menu button
- Go to: Channel → Add Channel
- Select an empty channel
Set the following:
- Channel Type: Digital
- Channel Name: (e.g. "DMR Local")
- RX Frequency: (Repeater output)
- TX Frequency: (Repeater input)
- Color Code: (provided by repeater)
- Time Slot: TS1 or TS2
Press Confirm/Save

Step 2: Add a Contact (Talkgroup)
- Menu → Contacts → Talkgroup
- Select Add
Enter:
- Contact Name: (e.g. "TG 3100")
- Call Type: Group Call
- Call ID: (Talkgroup number, e.g. 3100)
Save the contact

Step 3: Assign Contact to Channel
- Menu → Channel → Edit Channel
- Select your newly created channel
Set:
- Contact Name: Select the talkgroup you created
- TX Permit: Always (or Color Code Free depending on preference)
Save changes

Step 4: Set RX Group List (Optional but Recommended)
- Menu → RX Group List → Add
Add desired talkgroups to the list
Then:
- Go back to Channel Edit
- Assign RX Group List to the channel

Step 5: Set DMR ID
- Menu → Settings → Radio Settings → DMR ID
- Enter your personal DMR ID

Step 6: Select Channel and Test
- Switch to Channel Mode
- Select your programmed channel
- Key up briefly to test access

Tips
- Ensure you are within range of the repeater
- Verify Color Code and Time Slot match exactly
- Start with a known active talkgroup (e.g. statewide or local)
- If no audio, double-check RX Group List

- RX: 449.500 MHz
